Shopify’s plans cost Malaysian merchants US$19 (Basic), US$49 (Grow) or US$299 (Advanced) a month billed yearly, or US$25, US$65 and US$399 billed monthly. Shopify bills Malaysian stores in US dollars. Because Shopify Payments is not available in Malaysia, you also pay a third-party transaction fee of 2%, 1% or 0.6% on each sale, plus your payment gateway’s own fees. In our example below, a small store selling RM10,000 a month pays about RM433 a month in total.

How much does Shopify cost in Malaysia?

These are the prices on Shopify’s Malaysia pricing page in October 2026. RM figures use US$1 = RM4.09, from Bank Negara Malaysia’s USD/MYR reference rate of 4.0887 on 9 October 2026.

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly (per month) Yearly, in RM a month Third-party fee Shopify says it is for
Basic US$25 US$19 RM77.71 2% Solo entrepreneurs
Grow US$65 US$49 RM200.41 1% Small teams
Advanced US$399 US$299 RM1,222.91 0.6% Global reach
Plus From US$2,300 Not listed From RM9,407 (monthly price) 0.2% Complex businesses

Yearly billing is 24% to 25% cheaper than monthly. New stores get a 3-day free trial, then US$1 a month for the first 3 months on most plans. On Basic, that offer gives a first year of 3 × US$1 + 9 × US$25 = US$228, the same as 12 months at the yearly rate of US$19. Grow adds up to 5 staff accounts and Advanced up to 15.

Malaysia is not on Shopify’s list of local billing currencies, so your plan, apps, themes and domain are all billed in USD. Your bank converts each charge, and the ringgit amount moves with the exchange rate.

What is Shopify’s third-party transaction fee?

Malaysia is not on Shopify’s list of supported countries for Shopify Payments. Every Malaysian store therefore uses a third-party gateway, and Shopify charges its third-party transaction fee on each sale paid through it. That fee comes on top of the gateway’s own charges. Manual payments, such as bank transfer or cash on delivery, do not attract the fee.

The fee also decides when a bigger plan pays for itself:

  • Basic to Grow costs US$30 more a month on yearly billing (RM122.70) and cuts the fee from 2% to 1%. It pays off once online sales pass about RM12,270 a month.
  • Grow to Advanced costs RM1,022.50 more a month and saves 0.4%. It pays off from about RM255,600 a month.

Which payment gateways work with Shopify in Malaysia?

Billplz, senangPay, HitPay and Razorpay Curlec all list Shopify integrations. Two add their own Shopify surcharge: Billplz charges its normal rates plus 0.3%, and HitPay adds 0.5%. On Basic with Billplz, a RM100 FPX order costs RM1.25 + RM0.30 to Billplz, plus RM2.00 to Shopify. That is RM3.55, or 3.55% of the sale. Our payment gateway comparison covers fees, payout times and plugins for each provider.

What else will you pay for?

  • Theme. Shopify’s free themes cost nothing. Paid themes in the Theme Store list from US$100 to US$500 (RM409 to RM2,045). You buy one once, and it is licensed to that store.
  • Apps. Many apps have a free plan and paid tiers. For example, the Judge.me reviews app is free, or US$15 a month (RM61.35) on its Awesome plan.
  • Domain. Shopify sells domains from US$9 a year (RM36.81). The price depends on the extension, and .my is one of the extensions it sells.
  • POS Pro. If you also sell in a shop, POS Pro is US$89 a month per location (RM364.01). See selling in-store and online without stock mismatches.
  • Marketplace orders. Syncing marketplace orders is free for 50 orders a month, then 1%, up to US$99 a month.
  • E-invoicing. Businesses with annual sales below RM3 million are generally exempt from LHDN e-invoicing since 1 September 2026. Above that, an app can submit e-invoices from your orders. Our Shopify e-invoice app is US$24 a month (RM98.16).

What does a Shopify store really cost per month?

Two example stores, both on yearly billing, using Billplz because it publishes Shopify-specific fees:

  • Small store: RM10,000 a month from 100 orders of RM100, all paid by FPX. Basic plan, Billplz Basic, free theme and free apps.
  • Growing store: RM50,000 a month from 400 orders of RM125, with 300 paid by FPX and 100 by card. Grow plan, Billplz Standard (RM999 a year) and one US$15 app.
Cost item Small store Growing store
Shopify plan RM77.71 (Basic) RM200.41 (Grow)
Shopify third-party fee RM200.00 (2%) RM500.00 (1%)
Billplz plan RM0 RM83.25 (RM999 ÷ 12)
Billplz FPX fees RM125.00 (100 × RM1.25) RM225.00 (300 × RM0.75)
Billplz card fees RM0 RM187.50 (1.5% of RM12,500)
Billplz Shopify surcharge (0.3%) RM30.00 RM150.00
Apps RM0 RM61.35 (US$15)
Total per month RM432.71 RM1,407.51
Share of sales 4.3% 2.8%

These totals leave out tax and your bank’s conversion charge on the USD bill. The growing store would pay RM1,000 in fees on Basic instead of RM500 on Grow, which is why it sits on Grow.

Worked example: first-year cost of a growing store

The same growing store, adding a US$320 paid theme and a domain at Shopify’s starting price:

Item Calculation Cost
Grow plan, billed yearly US$49 × 12 = US$588 RM2,404.92
Paid theme, one-off US$320 RM1,308.80
Domain From US$9 RM36.81
Reviews app US$15 × 12 = US$180 RM736.20
Shopify third-party fee 1% of RM600,000 RM6,000.00
Billplz Standard RM999 + RM2,700 FPX + RM2,250 cards + RM1,800 surcharge RM7,749.00
First-year total RM18,235.73

That is about 3% of RM600,000 in sales. The Shopify transaction fee and the gateway fees make up RM13,749, or 75% of the total. The plan itself is the smaller cost, so the gateway you pick matters more than the plan.

Is Shopify the right platform for you?

If transaction fees are your biggest cost, compare platforms that avoid Shopify’s third-party fee. Shopline has its own payments in Malaysia, covered in Shopify vs Shopline. WooCommerce and OpenCart charge no platform transaction fee but need hosting and upkeep, as compared in Shopify vs WooCommerce vs OpenCart.
