A business website in Malaysia costs anywhere from a few hundred ringgit a year on a DIY builder to RM120,000 or more for a custom platform. Pricing published by Malaysian agencies puts a template-based SME site at about RM1,500 to RM6,000 and a custom corporate website at about RM8,000 to RM25,000. On top of the build, plan for yearly costs: domain, hosting, maintenance and business email.

This guide covers company and corporate websites. If you sell online, read our e-commerce website cost guide instead.

How much does a website cost in Malaysia?

The ranges below come from Malaysian agencies’ and hosting companies’ own published pricing pages and guides, checked in October 2026. They are marketing material rather than an independent survey, so treat them as indicative.

Tier What you get Typical pages Published range
DIY or template builder You build the site yourself on a hosted builder with a ready-made template 1 – 10 About RM10 – RM200 a month
Basic SME website A provider customises a template, loads your content and launches it 3 – 10 RM1,500 – RM6,000
Custom corporate website Design built around your brand, a CMS, SEO foundations, forms and analytics 10 – 20 RM8,000 – RM25,000
Complex site or web application A bespoke design system, user accounts, portals, deep integrations and custom logic Varies RM30,000 – RM120,000+

The builder range is Exabytes’ estimate for website builder plans in Malaysia. GoDaddy prices its own Basic builder plan at RM395.88 a year.

The other three bands follow WDD’s 2026 price guide, which also puts a 3 to 5 page brochure site at RM1,500 to RM5,000 and a 10 to 20 page corporate site at RM8,000 to RM25,000. Other agencies draw the lines differently:

  • Walk Production prices a 10 to 15 page corporate website at RM5,000 to RM9,000 for a template-led build, RM8,500 to RM15,000 for a mid-range custom build, and RM15,000 to RM25,000 for a fully custom, bilingual build.
  • Webz puts an SME corporate profile website at RM5,000 to RM20,000, and larger or customised projects at RM20,000 to RM100,000 and above.
  • Advisory Apps quotes RM5,000 to RM15,000 for a 5 to 10 page corporate site with a CMS, and RM30,000 to RM100,000+ for custom web applications.
  • JustSimple publishes fixed packages from RM3,800 for up to 10 pages, with a .com.my domain and hosting included and an annual renewal of RM600.

Walk Production calls the 10 to 15 page corporate site the most common scope for Malaysian SMEs. That puts most company websites in the custom corporate tier or at the top of the basic tier.

What drives the price of a website?

Two quotes for “a 10-page website” can differ by RM15,000 because they describe different work. These are the main cost drivers.

  1. Unique layouts. Design time is spent on layouts, not page count. A 15-page site built from three layouts costs less than one built from twelve. Walk Production prices a template page at RM500 to RM800, a custom page at RM1,000 to RM1,500, and a complex interactive page at RM1,500 to RM2,500.
  2. Number of pages. Each page needs content loaded, linked and tested. WDD’s per-page reference runs from RM300 to RM1,000 or more.
  3. Copywriting. Many basic packages assume you supply every word and image. Professional copy is often what separates a budget quote from a mid-range one. GoDaddy puts copywriting at RM500 to RM1,500 a page, and WDD gives RM80 to RM1,800 a page for content.
  4. CMS. A content management system such as WordPress lets your team edit pages without a developer. Check that you get editor access and training, and which parts of each page are editable.
  5. Integrations. Each connection adds scope: a CRM, booking system, careers portal, WhatsApp or live chat, newsletter tool, or ERP.
  6. Multilingual content. A site in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese needs every page translated, laid out and checked in each language, with separate URLs for search engines. Walk Production includes bilingual content only in its premium tier, and Webz names multi-language sites as a reason projects move into its RM20,000+ band.
  7. SEO setup. Budget builds include little SEO. Mid-range builds usually add page titles and descriptions, site structure, speed work, analytics and Search Console. Walk Production lists “minimal SEO” at its budget tier and “SEO setup” at mid-range. Ongoing SEO is a separate monthly service, covered in our SEO price guide.

What are the one-off and recurring costs?

The build is paid once. A website also has running costs every year, and many quotes leave them out or bundle them for the first year only.

Cost One-off or recurring Published reference
Design and build One-off See the tiers above
Copywriting One-off, plus updates RM500 – RM1,500 a page (GoDaddy)
Domain (.com.my) Yearly About RM80 a year, or RM60 for a newly registered business through SSM’s Go.MY offer
Hosting Monthly or yearly RM600 – RM3,000 a year, from shared to cloud hosting (WDD)
SSL certificate Yearly Free to RM500 a year (WDD)
Maintenance Monthly RM199 – RM1,499 a month in the published plans we checked
Business email Monthly, per user RM29.20 per user a month for Google Workspace Business Starter

Packages that include a “free” domain and hosting are common. Ask what year two costs before you compare them with a quote that lists hosting separately.

Should you use a freelancer, an agency or a website builder?

Option Published price Suits Watch for
Website builder RM10 – RM200 a month (Exabytes) Sole traders and tight budgets Your own time, template limits, moving away later
Freelancer RM1,500 – RM6,000+, or RM80 – RM300 an hour (WDD) Small sites with a clear brief One person covering every skill, availability
Agency RM8,000 – RM120,000+ (WDD) Corporate sites, integrations, multiple languages, ongoing support Higher price, so check who does the work

Walk Production’s comparison for the same 10 to 15 page corporate site puts freelancers at RM4,000 to RM10,000 and agencies at RM8,500 to RM18,000. It notes that freelancer prices usually exclude hosting, maintenance, copywriting and SEO setup. Rebrand places small design studios between the two, at RM3,000 to RM10,000.

A builder is cheapest to start, but you do the design, writing and SEO yourself. A freelancer suits a small, well-defined job. An agency costs more because design, development, content and project management come from one team that stays after launch. Whichever you choose, the domain, hosting account and site files should be in your company’s name.

Can a grant pay for part of your website?

Possibly. The Geran Digital PMKS MADANI pays up to 50% of an eligible digital service, capped at RM5,000 per business, when you buy from a provider on MDEC’s panel. On an RM8,000 eligible package, the grant would cover RM4,000. On an RM12,000 package, it stops at RM5,000.

A website only qualifies if the provider’s package is listed under an eligible area, such as digital marketing and sales. What counts is the MDEC panel listing, not the wording on the quotation, so confirm it with the provider before you sign. O2O Digital is an MDEC-registered digitalisation partner.

How do you get an accurate website quote?

Send every provider the same brief. A clear brief gets you quotes you can compare, and a fixed price that holds.

  1. Goal. What the site must do: generate enquiries, support recruitment, inform investors, or back up tenders and sales meetings.
  2. Sitemap. A rough list of pages, with a note of which ones share a layout.
  3. Content. Who writes the copy, who supplies photos, and how much existing content moves across.
  4. Languages. English only, or Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese too, and who translates.
  5. Features and integrations. Forms, CRM, booking, careers, WhatsApp, newsletter, and any system the site must connect to.
  6. Editing. Who updates the site after launch, and how often.
  7. Current site. The URL of any site being replaced, so redirects can be planned. Our website migration SEO checklist lists what that involves.
  8. Budget range and deadline. A range lets a provider propose the right tier instead of guessing.
  9. Examples. Two or three websites you like, and what you like about them.

Then compare the quotes line by line: unique layouts, revision rounds, content, SEO setup, training, support after launch and the year-two running cost.

What are the red flags in a website quote?

  • One price with no scope. Without a page list, a layout count and revision limits, you cannot compare it, and extras appear later.
  • Domain or hosting in the provider’s name. Walk Production warns that some freelancers register these under their own accounts. You should own the domain, the hosting login and the site files.
  • No CMS access. If only the provider can change text, every edit becomes a paid job.
  • Free first year, unstated renewals. Get the renewal prices for domain, hosting and maintenance in writing.
  • Content assumed. A low quote often means you write all the copy and supply all the images. Check before comparing.
  • No mention of mobile, speed or basic SEO. These are standard on a business website, not extras.
  • No plan for the old site. A redesign without redirects can lose search traffic you already have.
