To sell on TikTok Shop Malaysia, register at TikTok Shop Seller Center (seller-my.tiktok.com) as an individual, sole proprietor or company, verify your ID or SSM documents, add a bank account in the same name, and list your products. There is no listing or monthly fee. TikTok takes a category commission, a 3.78% transaction fee and a RM0.54 support fee on each delivered order.

Commission rates change often. A new rate card takes effect on 31 October 2026, so the figures below show both the current and the new rates. All figures were checked on TikTok Shop’s Malaysian seller pages in October 2026.

Which seller account should you register?

TikTok Shop Malaysia has three seller types. Pick the one that matches how your business is legally set up, because the name on your documents, your shop account and your bank account must all match.

Seller type Who it is for Main documents Bank account
Individual A person selling without a registered business MyKad or MyPR Personal account in the name on the ID
Sole proprietor One owner with an SSM business registration SSM certificate or trading licence, plus MyKad or MyPR (and passport if using MyPR) Account matching the registered name
Corporate A company or partnership registered in Malaysia SSM registration documents, company profile, director or authorised person’s ID, tax registration Business account in the company name

Individual sellers must be at least 18 and a citizen of Malaysia, Thailand or Vietnam. TikTok’s own registration guide “highly encourages” individuals to register their business with SSM and sign up as a business seller instead.

That advice is worth taking. TikTok’s SSM guide points out that sole proprietors trading in Peninsular Malaysia must register under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956, and that registered sellers must show their business name and registration number on their shop profile. A business account also makes the move to your own website, payment gateway and e-invoicing simpler later.

For corporate sellers, TikTok says each verified business entity can open up to five seller accounts.

What documents does TikTok Seller Center Malaysia ask for?

TikTok’s verification rules for Malaysia cover both the documents and how you upload them:

  1. ID. A government-issued ID that is valid now and for as long as you sell. Upload both sides if details are on the back. Passports must show the full biodata page.
  2. Business documents. Full pages of every SSM certificate and licence. TikTok’s e-invoice page says the SSM business profile must be dated within the last 12 months.
  3. Bank statement. The first full page of a statement showing the bank name, account number and account holder name.
  4. Address. A full address with state, district and postcode.
  5. File quality. Colour PNG or JPG files. No angled, blurry, black-and-white or cropped screenshots, and no special characters in file names.

TikTok may also ask for beneficial ownership details or a short verification video. If anything changes later, such as a new director or an expired licence, you must update it in Seller Center.

How do you register on TikTok Shop Seller Center?

  1. Go to TikTok Shop Seller Center Malaysia and create your account.
  2. Choose your seller type: individual, sole proprietor or corporate.
  3. Upload your ID and business documents.
  4. Complete your shop profile and address.
  5. Add your bank account and upload the bank statement.
  6. Submit your tax details for e-invoicing (see below).
  7. Wait for verification, then set up shipping and list your first product.

How much does TikTok Shop charge sellers in Malaysia?

Each delivered order carries three or four deductions. TikTok takes them from your settlement automatically.

Fee Rate (SST included) Charged on
Commission Varies by category, 0% to about 19% Item price minus your seller discount. Shipping and platform discounts are excluded
Transaction fee 3.78% Item price minus your seller discount, plus shipping paid by the buyer
Transaction fee (TikTok PayLater) 4.86% Same base, for PayLater orders from 16 October 2026
Platform support fee RM0.54 per order (RM0.50 + 8% SST) Each delivered order, from 15 February 2026
Bonus Extra Program (BXP) fee 4.86% Only if you join BXP

What are the commission rates by category?

Commission depends on the product category, on whether you are a Marketplace or Mall seller, and on whether you join the Bonus Extra Program. BXP sellers pay lower commission plus the 4.86% BXP fee, and get vouchers, cashback and extra exposure in return.

Here are sample rates from TikTok’s commission page. New rates apply to orders from 00:00 on 31 October 2026.

Category Marketplace, non-BXP (now) Marketplace, non-BXP (from 31 Oct 2026) Mall, non-BXP (from 31 Oct 2026)
Snacks and beverages 13.50% 14.36% 17.60%
Women’s footwear 14.58% 15.99% 19.23%
Feminine care 14.58% 12.10% 15.34%
Phones and tablets 9.72% 9.72% 12.96%
Laptops and computers 9.72% 10.04% 13.28%
Fast food 6.48% 6.48% 9.72%
Fresh food, dairy, cooking staples 0% 0% 0%

Most categories go up on 31 October, a few go down, and essentials stay at 0%. Look up your exact sub-category in Seller Center before you price.

What does one order actually cost?

Take a RM100 snack order from 31 October 2026, with no seller discount and free shipping to the buyer:

Deduction Marketplace, non-BXP Marketplace, BXP
Commission RM14.36 RM11.66
Transaction fee RM3.78 RM3.78
BXP fee None RM4.86
Platform support fee RM0.54 RM0.54
Total RM18.68 RM20.84

So you keep about RM81 of a RM100 sale before product, packaging and shipping costs. BXP costs more per order. It pays off only if the extra vouchers and exposure bring enough additional sales. If you work with affiliate creators, their commission comes on top of this.

Can you avoid the platform support fee?

Some sellers can. TikTok waives it automatically or through a Seller Center mission for:

  • New Marketplace sellers onboarded on or after 1 April 2026, for 30 days after their first product upload.
  • Small sellers onboarded for at least 30 days with 1 to 100 net orders in the last 30 days, or 101 to 200 net orders and GMV of RM3,000 or less.
  • Essential categories such as baking, fresh and frozen food, cooking staples and KPM-catalogue textbooks, which are rebated monthly.

The fee is not refunded if a delivered order is later returned.

When does TikTok Shop pay sellers?

Money moves in two steps. First it settles into your Seller Center balance, then you withdraw it to your bank.

Settlement period Days Who gets it
Express 1 Eligible TikTok Shop Mall stores
Fast 3 Stores past the new-store period that meet TikTok’s criteria
Standard 8 Default for stores outside TikTok Shop Mall
Extended 15 Applied for account risk or policy violations

TikTok can stretch the period to 30 days if it sees abnormal activity, and it reassesses each shop over time. Check yours under Finance, then Transactions, then To be settled.

Withdrawals go to your registered bank account only. TikTok’s withdrawal rules list a minimum of RM1, a fee of RM0.65 below RM5,000 and RM1 at RM5,000 or more, and 3 to 5 working days to arrive. That page dates from December 2024, and an older FAQ says there is no withdrawal fee, so confirm the fee shown in Seller Center before you withdraw.

How does shipping work on TikTok Shop Malaysia?

Most sellers use Shipped via Platform. TikTok assigns the courier, and you drop parcels off or wait for pickup. The listed providers are J&T, Ninja Van, GDEX, BEST Express, Flash Express, Pos Laju and J&T Cargo. You cannot choose the courier for these orders.

Seller shipping, where you deliver with your own transport, is available only to some sellers.

You must enable at least one shipping option. Cash on delivery works only on Standard, Economy and Cargo options, and you can turn it off per product.

TikTok and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) announced an RM2 shipping rebate per order on 30 June 2026 as part of a cost-of-living programme. TikTok did not publish an end date, so check whether it still applies to your shop.

What can you not sell on TikTok Shop?

TikTok sorts products into three groups:

  • Prohibited products are banned by Malaysian law or regulation.
  • Restricted products need TikTok’s approval first. You submit certificates, test reports or brand documents through the Qualification Center in Seller Center.
  • Unsupported products are not allowed on TikTok Shop, even if you hold the right licences.

Restricted categories include TV boxes (which need a SIRIM certificate or MCMC device registration), motorcycle helmets, health supplements, medicines and medical devices, infant formula and baby food, jewellery and bullion, pre-owned goods, and branded goods. Brand distributors need trademark proof, a licensing agreement and proof of purchase.

Content rules apply too. Medical devices cannot be promoted in videos or LIVE without approval from the Medical Device Authority, and infant formula promotion is not allowed.

What do TikTok Shop sellers need to know about e-invoice and tax?

There are two separate e-invoice questions.

What TikTok needs from you. TikTok Shop must issue e-invoices to sellers for its fees under LHDN’s rules. To do that, it asked every seller to submit tax details from the end of May 2026, with a deadline of 1 July 2026. Sellers who have not submitted and passed review can have withdrawals frozen until they do. You need:

  • Individuals: full name, ID type and number, nationality, TIN (starting with IG), billing address, and SST number if registered.
  • Businesses: registered name, SSM certificate, TIN, billing address, and SST status and number.

You will also get a monthly invoice for TikTok’s fees under Finance, then Invoice Center.

Your own obligation. Whether you must issue e-invoices to your own customers depends on your total turnover, not on TikTok. LHDN raised the exemption threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million in annual turnover from 1 September 2026, in version 4.8 of its e-Invoice General Guideline. If your business is below RM3 million and not part of a larger group, you are currently exempt. Our e-invoice guide for 2027 covers the phases and conditions.

TikTok sales are business income either way. Keep your Seller Center statements, because they show gross sales and every fee deducted, and those fees are business costs. Ask your tax adviser how to report them.

The rules may tighten further. The government announced an E-Commerce Bill in Budget 2027, and MCMC met TikTok Shop and other platforms in October 2026 about stronger seller identity checks. Our E-Commerce Bill explainer tracks what is known.

TikTok Shop or your own store: which is better?

They do different jobs. TikTok Shop brings buyers who are already watching. Your own store keeps the customer and the margin.

Factor TikTok Shop Own store (for example Shopify)
Fixed cost None Shopify plan from US$19 a month (yearly) or US$25 (monthly)
Per-order cost Commission plus 3.78% plus RM0.54, about 18% on our example Shopify’s 2% third-party fee on Basic, plus your gateway’s fee
Traffic Built in, from videos, LIVE and affiliates You bring it, through SEO, Google Ads and social
Customer data Held by TikTok. Limited contact with buyers Yours. You can email and retarget customers
Brand control TikTok’s layout and rules Your design, your policies
Payout timing 1 to 15 days after shipment, then 3 to 5 working days Depends on your payment gateway
Rule changes TikTok can change fees and policies, as it does on 31 October You set your own prices and policies
E-invoicing TikTok invoices you for its fees You connect your own store to MyInvois if you are in scope

Shopify prices are from Shopify’s Malaysia pricing page in October 2026. Our Shopify pricing guide shows full monthly totals in ringgit, and our payment gateway comparison lists the gateway fees.

When should you sell on both?

Most growing brands end up running both. TikTok Shop is strong for discovery and impulse buys. Your own store is where repeat customers, bundles, subscriptions and B2B orders work best.

Running both makes sense when:

  1. TikTok fees are eating your margin. At around 18% to 21% per order before shipping, moving repeat buyers to your own store keeps more of each sale.
  2. You depend on one platform. A fee change, account restriction or policy update can cut your sales overnight. A second channel limits that risk.
  3. You want customer data. Your own store lets you build an email list and run remarketing.
  4. You sell to businesses. Wholesale and corporate buyers want proper invoices and quotations, which a marketplace does not handle.

Keep stock and prices in sync across both. Overselling on one channel leads to cancelled orders and unhappy buyers.

How does O2O help?

O2O Digital has built websites and online stores for Malaysian businesses since 2008, with offices in Petaling Jaya and Bayan Baru, Penang. We do not run TikTok Shop accounts. We build the channel you own alongside it.

Our e-commerce service builds Shopify and other online stores, connects local payment gateways, and links your store to MyInvois through our e-invoice integrations. We then bring traffic to it with SEO and Google Ads. See how we work with e-commerce brands that already sell on marketplaces. Pricing depends on your catalogue and integrations, so we quote after a short call.

Frequently asked questions

How much commission does TikTok Shop take in Malaysia?

It depends on the category. Marketplace rates for non-BXP sellers run from 0% on essentials to about 16% in the categories we checked from 31 October 2026, and Mall rates are higher. On top of commission, TikTok charges a 3.78% transaction fee and RM0.54 per delivered order.

Is there a fee to open a TikTok Shop?

No. TikTok’s commission page says there are no fixed, listing or monthly fees. You pay only when an order is delivered.

How long does TikTok Shop take to pay sellers?

Do I need to issue e-invoices for my TikTok Shop sales?

TikTok issues e-invoices to you for its fees, and needs your tax details to do it. Whether you must issue e-invoices to buyers depends on your own annual turnover. Businesses below RM3 million are currently exempt.

Can I sell on TikTok Shop and Shopify at the same time?

Yes. Many brands use TikTok Shop for discovery and their own Shopify store for repeat customers. Keep stock levels in sync so you do not oversell.
